I am always looking for ammo designs that offer an advantage for certain uses—in this case, for stopping two-legged threats. 

This Lehigh Defense Controlled Fracture bullet will shed its three petals after about an inch of penetration into living mammalian materials. Those three petals will tumble and make their own paths of destruction for roughly seven inches. The bullet shank will continue to penetrate like a solid with a slightly expanded/jagged front end, for roughly 16 more inches. The concept behind this bullet is to increase blood loss substantially, without sacrificing penetration needed to destroy whatever else is deeper in its path. I would hate to be the surgeon who has to repair a human torso or leg/arm, hit with one of these. 

This is “standard pressure” (Non +P) ammo designed for one purpose and that is to kill humans, fast. As such, we wanted full power, but not much recoil or muzzle flash, to facilitate fast follow-up shots. So, while this should be considered full-power 9MM ammo, it is not the barn burning turbo charged stuff we make for outdoor use on wild animals. It is standard pressure, meaning it is light recoiling, low blast, and suitable for use in all firearms thus chambered. 

It takes hydraulic interaction to get the nose to mushroom and then fracture, so this bullet will punch through heavy clothing and not initiate fracture until it reaches living mammalian tissue.

>  1,186 fps - Wilson Combat EDC, 5-inch
>  1,177 fps - Browning Hi Power, 4.-inch
>  1,155 fps - Glock model 19, 4.0-inch
>  1,066 fps - S&W Body Guard, 3.0-inch
>  1,092 fps - Sig P365, 3.0-inch
