Friends, in anticipation of the possibility of eventual factory rifles chambered in 50 AK, we have developed this load for use on the planet's biggest game, i.e., elephant. For decades, we have made a 525 gr. hard cast load for the 50AK. After harvesting a lot of game with hard cast bullets, which are super effective, we have learned that at these velocity ranges and with all that momentum, big bones can deform even the best hard cast bullets, thus affecting straight line and depth of penetration. While you could likely take an elephant with our 525 gr., hard cast 50 AK load, I would not try it. We have designed this new CEB solid brass, flat nose bullet just for elephants. This bullet will not deform on a big bone, ensuring proper direction and depth of penetration. We cannot go heavier on the bullet weight as brass is long-for-weight and robs case capacity, which is needed for propellant.
I suspect this load will see considerable use on Cape Buffalo, Rhino, Hippo, and AK Brown Bear as well. At .510 caliber, you don’t need expansion. Frankly, any of our hard cast loads would work fine on AK Brown bear as they are thin-skinned and at a max of 1500 lbs, are not huge.
You’ll note the velocities from my below real world rifles. Please note that barrel length alone is not the determining factor in generating velocity. Internal barrel dimensions and materials also play a role in generating velocity. The 18-inch barrel shoots as fast as the 24-inch barrel. This load has the velocity, sectional density, and hardness for elephant brain shots, which means it is sufficient for any animal that walks the earth.

2. 1,874 FPS - Marlin 336 action, Dave Clay conversion, 20-inch bbl

NOTE: As of this date (10-04-25), the 50 AK cartridge is not recognized by SAAMI, although it has been in use and production at some level since the 1970s. Once factory rifles go into production, if that ever happens, it will likely get introduced to SAAMI, and every maker will be copying our ammo, as there is little published information on loads.
