45 ACP +P
45 ACP +P Ammo - 230 gr. J.H.P. @ 950 fps/M.E. 461 ft lbs
20 Round Box

ITEM 45-230

45ACP +P ammo is externally/dimensionally identical to 45 ACP ammo and can be fired in any 45 ACP firearm that is in normal operating condition. However, the greater pressures and power of the +P ammo will give you greater slide velocity and if you are going to shoot more than a box or two of +P ammo, you should consider replacing your recoil spring with a Wolf Spring that gives roughly 4 to 6 lbs more spring weight than factory stock springs. A shock buffer might also be a good addition although it is not too necessary if you use the stronger spring.

The below velocities were fired from my personal Colt Gold Cup 1911 (5-inch)

➤ 1,180 fps -- 45185-----------(185gr. Jhp)
➤ 1,078 fps -- 45200-----------(200gr. Jhp)
➤    979 fps -- 45230-----------(230gr. Jhp)
➤    981 fps -- 45230FMJ-----(230gr. Fmj-FLAT NOSE)
➤    960 fps -- 45255-----------(255gr. HARD CAST-FLAT NOSE)

As always, with Buffalo Bore Ammunition, we use real world firearms to give real-world data and results. Laboratory test barrels tell you little about what kind of speed you can expect from your stock firearm.

All our 45 ACP+P loads utilize flash suppressed powders so that you will not be blinded by your own gunfire should you need to fire in the dark when the criminal element is at work.

The three JHP loads are designed for defense against humans, while the two non-expanding loads are designed to shoot through large shoulder bones or the skull on a black bear. These non-expanding bullets also work well if you need to shoot through cover like car doors or stick frame walls.

Here we go again. I just reviewed the BB 230 grain FMJ ammo. It out-performed all the others. The same thing is true with this HP ammo. The Speer bullet is driven at 970 FPS from my Kimber Target II. Tests into newsprint medium showed that it had the most expansion and penetration. I tested against seven other rounds including Hornady ammo rated at 950 FPS. The Hornady shed it's jacked and broke apart. The BB had the MOST MASS at the termination point. This stuff really works. I took out the 16 lb recoil spring and put in an 18.5 with a shock buff. Recoil is VERY manageable. I really see no difference between this round and standard issue. I HIGHLY recommend this fine ammo. Very well done Buffalo Bore

This is great 230gr defensive ammo. It is the standard 230gr Gold Dot (not the short barrel) and hits like a freight train. I would not recommend using it in 3" aluminum framed models. I found it very difficult to bring my Kimber Ultra Carry II quickly back on target when launching these bad boys. Out of a 4" or longer barrel, they would be a great carry load. In expansion tests, I was only able to recover one of three rounds as the first two exited the fourth water jug. The holes in the jugs suggested that expansion had been achieved. My third round barely penetrated a fifth water jug, but had symmetrical .73" expansion. Obviously even out of a 3" snub, these things get serious penetration as well as fairly reliable expansion. However, the recoil is heavy, so I would only recommend using them in 4-5" 1911s. A Glock 30 could possibly handle them fairly well.

I love your ammo it gets great results, problem is it's confusing if you look at the section it showing
FMJFN (FLAT NOSE) yet you look at it and they are hollow points. how do you get the FLAT NOSE
I have ordered FMJFN from MIDWAYUSA and got
hollow points????
