 I’ve been a bit tardy bringing out 8X57 (.323) ammo as customers have been requesting some good full-power 8X57 hunting ammo for almost thirty years as of this writing (09-21-23).

*KNOW YOUR RIFLE, PLEASE. If you know the history of the 8X57, the early rifles (1880s to 1905) utilized a bullet of .318 inch, but after 1905, using the then new M98 action, a more powerful 8X57 load was designed that used .323-inch diameter bullets, and that is the bullet diameter used for the 8X57 Mauser since.  It will likely explode if you try to fire the modern .323-inch diameter bullets through one of these older 8X57s with a .318-inch groove!

We will make five different 8X57 Mauser loads, utilizing the below bullets:

1.  150 gr. Spitzer soft point @ 2900 fps
2.  170 gr. Spitzer soft point @ 2700 fps
3.  170 gr. Barnes TSX @ 2650 fps
4.  195 gr. Spitzer soft point @ 2500 fps
5.  200 gr. TSX @ 2500 fps

This load (Item # 8X57-200 TSX) is designed with an expanding 200 gr. TSX bullet. If you want the deepest penetrating expanding bullet available in the 8X57, This is it. This load is intended for larger big game like elk, grizzly, and moose but will kill smaller big game like deer, too.

Below, you can see the typical pre-war rifles I used to develop these 8X57 loads and corresponding velocities. 

> 2,510 fps - BRNO Manlicher, 21-inch barrel
> 2,486 fps - Sporterized military, 24-inch barrel

All these new 8X57 loads will be full power but will stay within SAAMI pressure specs., so if you have an ordinary, in shooting condition 8X57 rifle (.323-inch)*, this load will be safe, functional in the rifle and deadly on its intended game.
