For over 20 years, I’ve been getting requests for some 445 Super Mag. loads. As of this writing (05-05-21) Due to demand, I’ve been wanting to make these 445 loads for at least 15 years, but something always got in my way. Two years ago, I bought a supply of brass thinking I would get it done soon, but then the politicized Covid farce hit, and we’ve been far too busy to bring out new loads, till now.

This is our first release of what will eventually be three or four 445 SM loads. Item # 445SM 240, features a 240 gr. JHP at 1,700 FPS from my lone Dan Wesson 445 revolver with an 8-inch barrel below. I’m getting roughly a 150-200 fps gain over our famed 44 Rem. Mag. loads with these 445 loads, in a revolver that is more svelte (and lighter) than the X frame S&W revolvers.

We are using a flash suppressed powder in these loads, but with any powder charge this large, being fired from an 8-inch revolver, there is still some decent flash.

My particular DW revolver had some tooling marks in the chambers that could be seen with the naked eye, easily. These new loads showed slightly sticky extraction until I buffed out the chambers…….after that, the fired empties fall out very easily. Please read this article……………. Item # 445 SM 180 features a 180 gr. JHP @ 2,050 fps from my test revolver and is designed for killing animals up to 300 lbs.
Item # 445 SM 240 features a 240 gr. JHP @ 1,700 fps, and is designed for hunting animals up to the 400-500 lb. range.
Item # 445 SM 300 features a 300 gr. JFN bullet @ 1,525 fps, and should not be used on animals heavier than 1,000 lbs.

We will make a heavy, non-expanding hard cast load too, that can be used on critters weighing up to 2,000 lbs., if there is sufficient interest.
