NEW BUFFALO BORE APPAREL
“DANGEROUS GAME” 375 RUGER MONO-METAL
270 gr. SOLID @ 2,750 fps / 4,533 ft-lbs
BUFFALO BORE DANGEROUS GAME 375 SERIES
ITEM 375 Ruger DG 270 SOLID
The 375 Ruger cartridge is an improvement over the 375 H&H in a few ways. When this cartridge was introduced, I was slow to warm up to it as I had been shooting the 375 H&H for decades and liked it. The 375 Ruger functions on a standard (not magnum) length action, it holds roughly 10% more powder than the venerable H&H and generates about 5%-7% more velocity with like bullet weights. What’s not to like?
Buffalo Bore’s rifle cartridges that are intended for use on Dangerous Game, are full-powered, but we do NOT try to milk every extra FPS out of them as we would prefer to have low pressures that leave room for bad circumstances such as a barrel with rainwater, dust, or other debris in it. There is no good reason to have pressures so high as to cause function issues with your rifle under dangerous or adverse/sloppy conditions. This load is SAAMI compliant.
This is our 270 gr. Solid, FN, Lehigh Defense bullet, for use on those bad angle shots of a charging or running away wounded Buffalo or an elephant brain shot. If you want super deep straight line penetration from your 375 Ruger, this is the load. It will penetrate several feet through mammalian muscle and bone.
This “solid” bullet shoots very close to the same point of impact as our 270 gr. TSX load at 150 yards from both of my test rifles.
You’ll note that I have two Ruger Guide rifles chambered in 375 Ruger. This is because I really like this style of rifle (20-inch barrel, all stainless, three positions safety that locks the bolt, adjustable length of pull, iron sights and moisture impervious, strong stock) and 30 years ago, had to pay thousands of dollars to get a rifle designed and custom made like the Ruger Guide Gun series, which retails for only around $1,000.00. These rifles only have 20-inch barrels, so you can expect that longer barrels will give higher velocities as Ruger barrels are generally not fast for length, but give average/normal velocities per length. Both of my Ruger Guide Guns give roughly the same velocity of 2,700+ fps with this load. A 24-inch barrel with the right types of internal dimensions could easily give another 100-175 fps. This is a great place to ask you to read an article on “Velocity Versus Barrel Length.”
The American gun industry has been duplicitous in claiming bullet velocities. It’s typical for ammo companies to use very long machine mounted test barrels to get very high velocities, but in the real world, with real firearms, you simply will not achieve those results. 23 years ago, Buffalo Bore started to publicly expose this practice and today we are starting to see a few ammo companies get honest with velocities by using real-world guns to generate published velocities. About 35 years ago, (long before I was Buffalo Bore Ammunition) I bought my first chronograph as I had a deep interest in ballistics. (this is being written in 03-2020) I was immediately stunned by how low ACTUAL velocities were, versus published velocities, when it comes to the big ammo companies’ products. When I started Buffalo Bore Ammunition, I chose not to be dishonest regarding published velocities.

IF YOU DO NOT READ THIS, IT IS ON YOU!
All shooters are being inconvenienced with what is happening to our society and the rush it is causing on ammo supplies. We have LOTS of ammo in stock and are making more at a huge volume on a daily basis. If our web site allows you to order any item, that means it is in stock—WE DO NOT TAKE ORDERS FOR ITEMS WE DO NOT HAVE! So, please do not email and ask if items are in stock. If they aren’t, the shopping cart will not take your order.
We have hundreds of customers to get orders to on a daily basis. In order for us to accomplish this for our customers, we ask the following.
Be sure of what you are ordering. You are going to get what you ordered.
Do not contact us and ask to change an order you’ve already placed. When we manually change orders it requires a lot of time that we do not have during this rush and it keeps us from serving all of our customers. If you’d like to change an order, we can no longer do that till things slow down, so simply place another order for more product, but PLEASE, NO MORE CHANGES after the fact!
We NEVER have and never will take ammo exchanges or returns and then turn around and re-sale that ammo to unsuspecting customers as factory new ammo—this is not safe nor is it fair to customers who are buying what they think is new and safe ammo. No ammo is tamper proof! So please stop asking to exchange or get a refund for ammo you ordered, but have changed your mind about.
Please do not contact us and ask for tracking numbers or “when will my ammo ship”? Our system automatically emails out tracking numbers on the orders we ship each day, however, because these emails are coming from a corporation shopping cart, many of these emails may go to your spam folder……..please look there. If it is not in your spam folder, that means we have not yet shipped. At current order rates, we are shipping within 5-7 business days of the time an internet order is placed. Please sit tight. Your ammo will arrive at the same time if you track it or not and will certainly arrive later if we are swamped answering questions instead of getting orders shipped. When 30-50 people per day send emails asking for tracking information and we have to pull that information up, then type it out and email it, it takes a huge portion of our work day that we should be using to ship those orders to customers in need. Please leave us alone so we can serve all of you. (ship to you) It’s a bit selfish, during times of shortages, when so many folks need to protect their families, to slow us down because you ordered carelessly or want to change your order. Right now, we expect you to do your part to help us all get the ammo we need in our troubled country.
These measures are hopefully temporary and will not be needed for long as we enjoy the interaction with our customers, so please, for the time being, be mindful of all those others who are also trying to get ammo during what I think is a societal meltdown/emergency. Hopefully, we can serve you all. We want you and your families to be armed and safe and we wish you the best during these trying times. My biggest concern is that things will worsen yet more, for a while. Until things straighten out in our government and society, we will have to streamline our customer service in order to serve all customers. Thank you for your understanding.
Good shooting and God bless,
