Finally, after trying for 19 years, I drew out on a Utah late-season San Juan elk tag. We spotted the elk two miles away at 8:30 a.m. where the elk was moving into a box canyon. We hoped that he was heading in to bed down. After a 3-hour hike up and across from the last place we had seen the elk, we had hoped to see him as we came over the ridge. Unfortunately, we saw nothing. After waiting another 4 1/2 hours, the elk came out to feed. Spotted at 379 yards, I quickly dialed my turret to the appropriate distance and shot. Then followed up by a quick second shot. The rest is history! The Buffalo Bore .300 Win Mag bullets were lethal! They gave me great confidence.

If you want a do everything load this is it. I have been using this load since it was introduced and I have shot pigs, an elk plus several deer over the years with this load and none took more than a few steps. I am not a trophy hunter so all of these were smaller animals but I am more than satisfied with terminal performance. Recoil is manageable and accuracy is outstanding. Five shot groups from my Tikka can be covered by a nickel.
