158 gr. Hard Cast Keith @ 1,250 fps
20 Round Box

This load was designed for those who need a deep penetrating 357 mag. or 38 SPL load to be fired from lightweight alloy 357’s and any 38 SPL revolver. Lightweight alloy 357’s develop multiple problems when firing our 180gr. 357 mag. hard cast turbocharged (Item 19A) ammo or any make of full power 357 ammo. Yet many folks want a deep penetrating “outdoor” type of load for their lightweight pocket 357’s, so here it is. Whether you are shooting gators or bears in the head, this load utilizes a hard flat nosed bullet, at sufficient velocity, even from 2-inch barrels, to fully penetrate either.

This load is safe to shoot in all 38SPL and 357 magnum firearms of modern design that are in normal operating condition. In the super lightweight alloy revolvers (around 11-12 oz.) the bullet will not jump crimp under recoil provided you do not subject an unfired round to more than 5 or 6 firings. In all steel guns, even short barreled ones, crimp jump is not an issue as the all-steel snub nosed revolvers are much heavier than the alloy versions.

This load utilizes a flash retardant powder that will not blind the shooter in low light conditions, which is important as wildlife and criminals get much more active when darkness comes.

This bullet is hard cast and properly lubed and as such will not substantially lead your barrel. You should find no degradation of accuracy when firing many cylinders full of this ammo without cleaning.

We never use extra long laboratory barrels to produce our advertised velocities, which we feel is dishonest to the customer as those extra long barrels produce extra high velocities, which you cannot duplicate with stock revolvers in the real world. Instead, we use stock firearms and you can see the velocity results below.

➤   1255 fps -- Ruger GP 100, 6-inch barrel, 357 mag.
➤   1186 fps -- S&W Combat Masterpiece 6-inch barrel, 38 SPL (circa 1958)
➤   1146 fps -- S&W Mt. Gun, 4-inch barrel, 357 Mag.
➤   1167 fps -- S&W Mod. 15, 4-inch barrel, 38 SPL (circa 1968)
➤   1112 fps -- Ruger SP 101, 3-inch barrel, 38 SPL
➤   1043 fps -- S&W Mod 66, 2.5-inch barrel, 357 mag.
➤     989 fps -- S&W Mod 340PD, 1 & 7/8-inch barrel, 357 mag.
➤   1027 fps -- S&W Mod 642 (pre dash), 1 & 7/8-inch barrel, 38 SPL

Friend sold me 2 boxes (well 1 and a half) and decided to carry it after a cylinder fired on steel gave me good results. 1 shot to a 107lb feral sow from a 1 7/8in .357 lcr dropped it drt @ 15-ish yards after my marlin malfunctioned. No exit wound found. Similar in recoil to federal 158gr .357 jsps, maybe just slightly less. Kinda dirty but I expect it compared to jacketed ammo.

Fired 40 rounds from a tarus p85 with 2 inch barrel. Performed great. Hit very hard at 25 yards. Deep penetration into a stump to where I could not see the round. Using for a light hiking load and feel confident it will take down black bear/cougar/wolf/human if needed. Good all around

Fired a box of this through my M&P 340 today as a test. It is a stout load, but certainly not unmanageable. It shot exactly to point of aim at 7 yards. I have been pretty close to some black bears with no warning. This combo will now back up my bear spray while camping and hiking. Happy with it so far, if I ever have to use it, I'll update my review.

Brought this to the range for my LCR 357. It's not 357, but it's not far from it. Definitely the most potent 38 P I've run across yet. I never considered the LCR to be a hiking gun, but now I might change my mind.

I bought this for my GP100 357 and it does not disappoint...I tried it on the range and will carry it with me on my next New Hampshire Hunting trip where black bear are plentiful in the white mountain area. Very good hard hitting load without too much recoil, more hard hitting then any other average 38 special load but just under the kick of 357 ammo, almost borderline... I have a 4.2 inch GP

Friends and Customers, 08-18-20

All shooters are being inconvenienced with what is happening to our society and the rush it is causing on ammo supplies. We have LOTS of ammo in stock and are making more at a huge volume on a daily basis. If our web site allows you to order any item, that means it is in stock—WE DO NOT TAKE ORDERS FOR ITEMS WE DO NOT HAVE! So, please do not email and ask if items are in stock. If they aren’t, the shopping cart will not take your order.

We have hundreds of customers to get orders to on a daily basis. In order for us to accomplish this for our customers, we ask the following.

  1. Be sure of what you are ordering. You are going to get what you ordered.

  2. Do not contact us and ask to change an order you’ve already placed. When we manually change orders it requires a lot of time that we do not have during this rush and it keeps us from serving all of our customers. If you’d like to change an order, we can no longer do that till things slow down, so simply place another order for more product, but PLEASE, NO MORE CHANGES after the fact!

  3. We NEVER have and never will take ammo exchanges or returns and then turn around and re-sale that ammo to unsuspecting customers as factory new ammo—this is not safe nor is it fair to customers who are buying what they think is new and safe ammo. No ammo is tamper proof! So please stop asking to exchange or get a refund for ammo you ordered, but have changed your mind about.

  4. Please do not contact us and ask for tracking numbers or “when will my ammo ship”? Our system automatically emails out tracking numbers on the orders we ship each day, however, because these emails are coming from a corporation shopping cart, many of these emails may go to your spam folder……..please look there. If it is not in your spam folder, that means we have not yet shipped. At current order rates, we are shipping within 5-7 business days of the time an internet order is placed. Please sit tight. Your ammo will arrive at the same time if you track it or not and will certainly arrive later if we are swamped answering questions instead of getting orders shipped. When 30-50 people per day send emails asking for tracking information and we have to pull that information up, then type it out and email it, it takes a huge portion of our work day that we should be using to ship those orders to customers in need. Please leave us alone so we can serve all of you. (ship to you) It’s a bit selfish, during times of shortages, when so many folks need to protect their families, to slow us down because you ordered carelessly or want to change your order. Right now, we expect you to do your part to help us all get the ammo we need in our troubled country.

These measures are hopefully temporary and will not be needed for long as we enjoy the interaction with our customers, so please, for the time being, be mindful of all those others who are also trying to get ammo during what I think is a societal meltdown/emergency. Hopefully, we can serve you all. We want you and your families to be armed and safe and we wish you the best during these trying times. My biggest concern is that things will worsen yet more, for a while. Until things straighten out in our government and society, we will have to streamline our customer service in order to serve all customers. Thank you for your understanding.

Good shooting and God bless,

Tim Sundles
