BUFFALO BORE 45 ACP +P OUTDOORSMAN
255 gr. Hard Cast FN @ 925 fps/M.E. 484 ft lbs
20 Round Box

ITEM 45-255

45 ACP +P ammo is externally/dimensionally identical to 45 ACP ammo and can be fired in any 45 ACP firearm that is in normal operating condition. However, the greater pressures and power of the +P ammo will give you greater slide velocity and if you are going to shoot more than a box or two of +P ammo, you should consider replacing your recoil spring with a Wolf Spring that gives roughly 4 to 6 lbs more spring weight than factory stock springs. A shock buffer might also be a good addition although it is not too necessary if you use the stronger spring.

The below velocities were fired from my personal Colt Gold Cup 1911 (5 inch)

➤ 1,180 fps -- 45185 (185gr. Jhp)
➤ 1,078 fps -- 45200 (200gr. Jhp)
➤    979 fps -- 45230 (230gr. Jhp)
➤    981 fps -- 45230FMJ (230gr. Fmj-FLAT NOSE)
➤    960 fps -- 45255 (255gr. HARD CAST-FLAT NOSE)

As always, with Buffalo Bore Ammunition, we use real world firearms to give real-world data and results. Laboratory test barrels tell you little about what kind of speed you can expect from your stock firearm.

All our 45 ACP +P loads utilize flash suppressed powders so that you will not be blinded by your own gunfire should you need to fire in the dark when the criminal element is at work.

The three JHP loads are designed for defense against humans, while the two non-expanding loads are designed to shoot through large shoulder bones or the skull on a black bear. These non-expanding bullets also work well if you need to shoot through cover like car doors or stick frame walls.

I load several different types of rounds in my carry magazine, from law enforcement P hollow point, to ball; and the last round in each of my magazines is a Buffalo Bore hard cast round.
This is because if all the other rounds fail to stop the threat, I know there is something SERIOUSLY wrong: perhaps a large four legged beast or the two legged variety in a vehicle or behind "cover".
I have tested these rounds in two temperamental Kimber 1911s. They feed flawlessly and are perhaps more accurate than match rounds, and I flat did not notice extra recoil or loss of sight picture.
I looked at the Buffalo Bore hole in the center of the ten ring with amazement. I don't consider myself a marksman.
Bottom line: I feel better knowing that these bad boys are in the magazine.

These are what I carry in my 3" Kimber while in the woods. A .45 ACP is a poor excuse for a black bear/wild hog gun, but if there's one load commercially available that would do the job, it's this one. The meplat does not have the surface area of a WFN or SWC, but it's radiused sides aid in feeding. Many 1911s are unable to feed WFN/SWC bullets, but my Kimber handled these just fine. These are extremely accurate. I was able to put three rounds through the same hole at 10 yards. Recoil is a bit stiff, but very manageable and not nearly as strong as the BB 230gr loads. Have not had the opportunity to test them in water or ballistics gel, but I would imagine they would easily perforate 24" or more.

*At one point, I was unable to chamber these in my Kimber. The feed ramp had become very dirty from 100 or so rounds of CCI Blazer and neither slingshotting the slide or depressing the slide stop would chamber the round as it stuck on the feed ramp. A sharp slap to the rear of the slide did the job, and subsequent shots chambered with no hiccups. As with any ammunition, be sure it functions in your weapon before carrying it. I just wanted to note that it's possible that you will have trouble chambering the first of these but have no feeding problems beyond that. Just to check, I stripped the pistol and wiped the feed ramp clean and the issue was resolved, so be sure your feed ramp is clean when carrying this load.

*** WOW *** Five stars out of five stars.

So far every thing that I wanted the P .45 ACP Cast Bullets to do have worked flawlessly. Almost no centerline of bullet drift occurs when fired thru hydro-bladder. Note: in addition to the water bladder ( 2 ft. thick ) we used lumber to simulate hard targets and these cast bullets passed thru with only slight bullet expansion and the bullet path remained true within .50" radius. Thanks BB
